Lost a Friend Today

I lost a friend today

My heart is broken in two

So many hopes and dreams

Now what do I do

We shared so much in common

Past and horses to ride

I never thought I’d be

Alone wanting to hide

No she didn’t die

Instead just walked away

My heart is grieving

Still you cannot stay

Life forces choices

We are all free to make

But I must live with myself

A part of me you will take

I will never be the same

For what I was with you

A friendship to bind

For you I hope too

I will say good-bye now

Shedding of many tears

Hard to open up again

I fear it may take years……
