Precious Little Sassy

Sassy never had a lap to call her own.
She had never see snow before either.

Molly's nose was pretty bent out of shape at first, now they are snuggling together. Sassy has also gotten Molly to play again. Very sweet!

The story, as it was told to me, is that Sassy was in a puppy mill in California. The puppy mill was discovered and shut down. Sassy had 5 puppies, we don't know what happened to the puppies. She is somewhere between 2 and 3 years. We have no idea how many litters she's had. Sassy was put on a "PTS" (Put To Sleep) list. A gal that was also involved in the Kennewick American Exkimo rescue (400 whte dogs rescued) was somehow involved in smuggling Sassy from the kill shelter to California to Kennewick.

From there she was taken to Seattle along with some of the rescued American Eskimos. She called Bonnie from here in Medical Lake and asked if she knew of someone who could take a minpin mix. She was just too small to house with the larger dogs. Bonnie told her she had a friend in at River City Rescue in Post Falls who would take her in, Claudia. Claudia took her in, got her spayed, immunized and fed her properly. Sassy's hair grew back in covering the bald spots. She advertised her on Craigslist and Petfinder.

I came across Sassy's picture on CL. I don't know what it was about her but my heart was instantly touched by her sweet face. I contacted Claudia to see if anyone had shown any interest. She said there was no one. I guess most people don't want to take in a little dog with a lot of baggage.....I'm not that person. I sent the listing to Mr. B. Of course, he loves dogs as much as I do (THANKFULLY, WE ARE A PERFECT MATCH).

We met Sassy at Petco. It was love at first sight. She instantly took to Mr. B. She just loves him. We brought her home that day and knew she wasn't going anywhere. That was 2 months ago. Other than she has some potty training issues (not a surprise from a little dog that has been kenneled her entire life) she is doing really well. She loves to be loved. She snuggles in bed at night and curls up on our lap during the day.

Sassy is home. No more kennels. No more abuse. No more neglect. Just unconditional love....not just for her but from her as well.....we are blessed!
